From the very first hour, the Cabido da Sé de Évora joined the national effort to contain the spread of the new Coronavirus Covid19. On March 16, we decided to close the Sé and all its equipment, to protect the health of our employees and those who visit us.
However, as a result of the national evolution of the situation, His Excellency the President of the Republic decided on the declaration of the State of Emergency, duly framed by the Government Decree-Law that decreed the closure of museums and other equipment, where the Cathedral of Évora fits. Such a State of Emergency, now renewed, continues to impose the said closure.
In this sense, the Sé de Évora will continue, observing the Law and the guidelines of the Government, the Health and Ecclesiastical Authorities, closed.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to all those who had a visit to the Cathedral in their cultural programs.
